LCPM January 2009

On 4th of January, Team ’09 together with 4 invited members went down to Port Dickson, Sunshine Bay Resort to held AIESEC TUC Local Committee Planning Meet (LCPM) 2009. We left Taylor’s at 12pm with full of energy and enthusiastic. It took more or less 1 hour to reach our destination.

LCPM kicks off when Mr. President announced it is officially started. First, we had team building conducted by Michelle Lee. Each group was supposed to draw a face on the mahjong paper and come out with 5 characteristic for the person. Then, create a story how these characteristics can contribute in a team. Funny stories were being made up from being too deep to HAMSAP (horny).

Everyone was full of energy!

Team Building

The perfect Family Tree.

After team building, every department presented the past achievements, past non-achievements and strategies for the next 6 months. Presentations were stretched till 8pm.

FA department presenting.

After a long day of presentations, we had barbeque for our dinner at the beach. Thanks to Whit Ni’s delicious marinated mutton and chicken wing. Everyone was satisfied with the food although we need to wait quite a while to fill our stomach.

Food Glorious Food!!

WALAU WEH~~

The Hyper people of LCPM AIESEC TUC

Strike 12.01am 5th of January, we gave a surprise birthday celebration for Michelle and she is 19 this year. Our surprise worked out and she was touched but no tears.

She wasn't satisfied...

For the second day of LCPM, cross-functional discussions occupied the whole day.

Discussions ended at 6pm when we finally head for the BEACH!! On the beach we had our photography session. What’s LCPM without a photography session? *chuckles* Then, we played Frisbees monkey game. *We are NOT Childish* Permanent monkeys were Joshua and Vincent. From this game, it is clearly seen that Leon and Clarence were the bullies. (I am not accountable for what I type.J)

Photography session on the sea continues after friesbies. From the pictures, it is very obvious that we can plan and pose very well. Thanks for your compliment. *perasan*

Nice Picture...especially when the sun sets..

Happy and a bit of SYOK Sendiri.

At night, planning continues while some participated in creating Team ’09 square dance and roll call.

For the last day, informative classes were conducted by departments. Exchange departments shared some matching skills, talent management department educated everyone on GCM competency and recruitment skills, selling department shared the importance of branding, Mr. President educated on AIESEC brand and logo while Finance and Administration department went through Internal Finance Policy together.

Shh...

Paying Attention.

Match!

More Matching!

Trial Recruitment 1

Trial Recruitment 2

Then, Vincent conducted a personality test on everyone and finally launched a few launches. Launches such as Supporter of the month, X-Heroes Match!, 2009 Sapu Awards and TOSS (Team ’09 Success Story). All these launches had an aim in bringing the whole local committee together as a whole and achieving the goals that were being set.

All in all, LCPM was a blast. Everyone enjoyed it. From the food, planning and photo taking session. It has been observed that the relationship among delegates is stronger by the end of this LCPM and everyone showed a sense of belonging to the team and to the LC. Everyone is very motivated to perform their best to achieve the vision they have built together for the LC.

Here are some interesting pictures that we took during LCPM.

MyLDS 2008

Malaysia Leadership Development Seminar (MyLDS) was held in University Putra Malaysia from 5th till 10th of December 2008.

Article by,
Michelle Wong Ching Yee, MyLDS 2008 Delegate
Day 1
I reached to college as early as usual but the only difference was I hand carried a lot of things with me as I am going off to join MyLDS at UPM. When everyone was gathered, then off we go. On the way to UPM, I was in the bus with other delegates. We interact with each other and I also get to know 3 interns who will be joining us at the conference. After registration and get into the hostel we then gathered at the plenary. Although we were late, we still welcomed warmly but other delegates from other LC. After the opening speeches by James, the MCP and also Anisha, the chair of MyLDS, we headed out for lunch. After the lunch, we were back to the plenary and started off the first topic, "Introducing AIESEC as an Organization". We were broke up into groups and as the faci briefed us about AIESEC and other related topic, we needed to discussed and shared our thoughts. Later on, the topic was on "Leadership Activation". This session actually allowed me to rethink and redefined "leadership". After the whole day of talks, which was quite theoretical, it is time to eat and at night DANCE OFF!! We changed into traffic lights' colour and we danced whole night. The night session was a square dance competition between LCs and Our square dance was Mamma Mia. We danced madly! We danced our own square dance and other LC's and we really enjoyed the moments, although we didn't win at the end of the competition. Sad…Tired of dancing? We went back to hostel and rest. Need to prepare for another exciting tomorrow!! Oh ya, get sick on the first day, soar throat and coughing whole night long. What a disaster!

Day 2

It was alumni day!! I really really enjoyed the day and I really benefited from that day.The alumnus were back to share their thoughts and experience of their AIESEC journey and also their journey after AIESEC. There were several workshops for us to choose from, and "Exchange" was one of the workshops that I selected. In that workshop, Marianne from Estonia shared her exchange experience in Malaysia. She just came here for only 3 weeks together with her child. She shared her pressures from her family who objected her to come to Malaysia as Malaysia was not known in Estonia and also the pressures faced to different culture. How to overcome it? People asked, and she mentioned that attitude is the key factor of solving the problems. She said that, men should have the "water" attitude, as water has no fixed shaped. Men should be flexible and able to adjust to different kind of situation, then the foreign culture will not be a problem. What made her think of exchange? She mentioned that everyone can be everyone's inspiration and she get inspired by other AIESECer and choose to go for exchange. She also often gets inspired by her child to overcome problems. That night's highlight: RACE, recognizing achievements; celebrating excellence! After workshops, everyone was fired up by the night. We dressed up to celebrate RACE at Putra Jaya. The dinner was the best dinner we ever had during the conference and we were spirited by the atmosphere. The peak moment, the most unforgotten moment, the most spirited moment was the moment where LC TUC won the BEST TM Team and the BEST FA Team!!!!!! TUC ROCKS!!! Walauweh!!! Although it was quite disappointing for not getting the Top Gun and also the best Xchange team, I believed that all these awards will be us this year!

TUC Rocks The House! us again!

Day 3
The main focus of today will be LC stimulation! All delegates are divided randomly into groups and then form a LC from the members in different group! I was in Group 19 with other delegates from UPM, UUM, UKM and USM. We selected all the VPs and LCP by voting to form a fictional LC. I was running for VP FA, but sadly to say I was not selected just because I am not from a Accounting and Finance background. T.T After a long discussion, we finalized our LC name called LC OSA (One Step Ahead). After we formed our LC, we went for lunch. During the lunch, delegates from TUC were busy selling T-shirt!! Loves is all around!! We got a HOT Sales man!! Next sessions will be skill workshops. I went for creative thinking and the art of being true self. Both sessions benefited me quite a lot as I able to know more deeply about myself and also the method to solve problems in another way. After the session we move on to myaiesec.net stimulation. Honestly speaking, that session was a mess! This is because most delegates don't really know how the session should be progress, blur with the location and there is also time limit. However, after that session, the next one was extremely interesting!! The session was night stalk. The facilitator created a murder scene and all delegates need to search for the murderer through the clues, which acted by the facilitator scene by scene. I moved with my fictional LC's members and keep following the facilitator all around the campus. At the end of the session, we need to point out who is the murderer and my group get the wrong guest. The murderer was the mother, acted by Anisha. The weapon used by "the mother" to kill "the daughter" was a poison ring and the reason behind was "the mother" wouldn't want her daughter to marry someone "the daughter" don't love and "the mother" (pregnant) wouldn't want her baby don't have a father. "The father" was actually the guy who will be marrying "the daughter". What a complicated relationship~ I also realized another thing! If the facilitators are jobless, they should think of going into acting line! They really really fantastic in acting!!

Day 4
Firstly, we went for a photo taking session!! Then, we attended a talk by Michael Rayes on motivational and influential topic. Later on, we have outdoor games, although it was a rainy day. The purpose of these games was to unite and to bond a closer relationship between the members of the fictional LC. The games were interesting, especially the chicken fight, in another word, wrestling. Although my fictional LC loose 4 games and draw one, we really have fun during the process of playing the games. After the games, is LC stimulation time! In this session all frictional LC were given different scenario that probably happened in a LC, and the members need to solve that problem. This session was to help the delegates to know more about how a LC functions with different type of department and the relationship between those departments. This session really take a long time… The funniest thing of the day, facilitator's chicken fight!! Oh My God!! Never want to miss it!

Day 5
Nothing much for that day morning. Mostly talks from external like Loreal and also HSBC, Unicef etc. The highlight of the day was Global Village!! Every LC represented a country to do some performance to introduce the specific country to everyone in that plenary. Since our LC was representing Egypt, we wrapped ourselves into mummies! Ever see mummies dancing with the thriller? It was cool!!

Day 6
The last day of MyLDS!! There was one main session which was mock MCP election!! Proudly to say that 3 out of 10 candidate for the mock MCP election were delegates form TUC!! All candidates need to give a speech, and then there will be a QnA session but the MCs, faci and LCPs. Although our delegates didn't succeed to be the mock MCP, but having 33.33% of candidate from one LC was something great! Besides that, our delegates also won 3 prizes out of 5!!! Which were: The best female delegate for MNC, The best female delegate for MyLDS, and … THE BEST DELEGATION for MyLDS!!

TUC ROCKS THE HOUSE AGAIN!! *extremely hyper!!*

MyLDS came till the end… I was quite happy yet very sad. The happy part was I missed my bedroom… the sad part was I will be separated with all my new friends and my roommates. Lots of things happened during the past 5 days and we actually have bonded quite closely to each other. We shared the same fun and exciting moments and also some boring session together. But it is ok! There is a Chinese saying "goodbye doesn't mean the end but it is a starting of another gathering". So, we shall meet again and have more fun next year in UUM!!
